Unguided tracking
Why tracking without guiding matters
Tracking without autoguiding, powered by 10Micron's absolute encoders and model-based operation, is a game changer for remote imaging.
- Freedom from seeing effects. Unlike autoguided systems that react to every atmospheric wobble, 10Micron's unguided performance means your mount stays on target, unaffected by transient seeing conditions. This delivers rounder stars, tighter FWHM, and higher fidelity in every sub.
- Superior long exposures. Confidently collect 5 to 30-minute subs without worrying about guide star loss or calibration issues. Just point, shoot, and stack.
- Higher reliability. Fewer steps in your imaging workflow means less troubleshooting and greater uptime, crucial for remote setups where every clear night counts.
Precision redefined
10Micron mount technology
Every 10Micron mount is engineered for effortless use in remote imaging, with ultra-precise tracking, often without guiding, thanks to dual absolute encoders on both axes and sophisticated internal model building.
Absolute encoders
Real-time position feedback on both RA and DEC ensures sub-arcsecond tracking for hours, with no periodic error to correct.
Model-based pointing
Onboard software and firmware, in conjunction with external imaging and plate solving packages, generate detailed pointing models factoring in site coordinates, atmospheric refraction, and mechanical characteristics. Polar align, run your model, and go.
Remote firmware & diagnostics
DSPR's direct partnership with 10Micron provides access to the latest updates, troubleshooting, and best-practice configurations, whether you're imaging from home or abroad.
Future-proof design: seamlessly integrates with advanced automation tools like NINA, SGP, ACP, and TheSkyX, and is ready for expansion as your setup grows.

Getting started
Getting your 10Micron running at DSPR
- Direct shipment and setup. Have your 10Micron mount delivered straight to DSPR for on-site setup by our expert team, or with our team's assistance.
- Model building made easy. Once your 10Micron is installed, building a custom pointing model is straightforward. Most users complete this in 20–30 minutes during their first light session, ensuring precise performance from day one. Models are usually required only on initial setup, when a mount has been moved, or when the imaging system has been substantially altered. The maximum number of model points used in an observatory installation is 100, giving a maximum model time of 40–45 minutes, during which no monitoring is necessary.
- Community support. Connect with fellow 10Micron users at DSPR through our online member community to share workflows, troubleshoot, and swap best practices. Some of our members run more than one 10Micron mount at our facility.
- Continued access to certified US-based support. All mounts at DSPR benefit from Deep Space Products' direct partnership with 10Micron for ongoing updates and diagnostics.
What our 10Micron users say
From owners running 10Micron mounts here
“I love having a GM1000 mount at DSPR. I’ve had other premium mounts, but nothing beats the ease of setup and use of a 10Micron. It just works every time.”
“It’s an outright joy to not have to deal with guiding. I’ve got guiding available on my rig, but I’ve never found it to add anything but extra trouble. For small objects I routinely use as little as 25% region of interest, and except perhaps on windy nights, never detect any issues from inconsistent tracking.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of using 10Micron mounts, and I can confidently say they are in a league of their own when it comes to tracking performance. Even long exposures of ten minutes are possible without guiding — a game-changer for me, even with a long focal length scope like my PlaneWave CDK.”
